This post is about easy self-care ideas for women to live their happiest life.
With the world in chaos for the last couples of years, there has never been a more needed time for women to take care of themselves.
So many women go through the day with an endless to-do list, leaving no time for themselves to decompress and relax. We must remember that self-care is not selfish. Let me say that again for all the ladies in the back. Self-care is NOT selfish!
It’s important to fill your own cup before pouring into others. When we take care of ourselves, we show up as our best selves in all aspects of our life. Self-care will improve not only your own health, but also your relationships, your work, your productivity, and your overall happiness.
what is self-care?
The idea of self-care isn’t new, but it has gained a lot of popularity within the last five year.
So, what is self-care and what is the best self-care for women?
According to the World Health Organization, self-care is the “ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider”.
Basically self-care is promoting a healthy lifestyle for yourself. It can range from drinking more water during the day to seeking therapy. Women especially need to make-self care a priority because they are often taking care of everyone else’s needs before their own.
We’ve put together an awesome list of self-care ideas for women with tips for self care, so you can have some good ideas for self-care and how to fill your cup.

Journaling and Self-Care
1. gratitude journal
We often forget about all the good things in our life when something bad happens or when we are stressed and upset. Writing in a gratitude journal can help you remember all the good things in your life. Studies have actually found that writing down things you are thankful for and counting your blessings can lower stress, help you sleep better, and improve interpersonal relationships.
What do you write in a gratitude journal?
You can right about anything you are thankful for! Write about something that happened during your day that you’re thankful for, write about something you’re looking forward to, or write about something you are thankful for now that you didn’t have a year ago. It is your gratitude journal, so fill it with all of your blessings!

Wellness Self-Care Ideas
Yoga is probably the first exercise activity that comes to mind when you think of self-care. There is good reason for this.
There is so much research out there proving the benefits of yoga including boosting immunity, enhancing working memory, lowering blood pressure, and boosting your mood and confidence.
See if yoga is a good self-care activity for you by trying out a 10-minute yoga class on YouTube!
I was always hesitant to try meditation because I’m always thinking about 100 different things, and I felt like I couldn’t shut my brain off long enough to meditate.
But meditation is not about shutting your brain off, it is about practicing mindfulness through breathing and intentional thought patterns.
So, how do you meditate?
Find a quiet place to sit down and give yourself a time limit to practice meditating. You can meditate for as little as 10 minutes a day to help lower stress and improve focus.
Next, focus on your breathing. Focus on your breath inhaling and exhaling. It is natural for your mind to wander, and once it does try to bring it back to focusing on breathing. Meditation is an easy self-care activity that has long lasting benefits to your health.
With all the stresses that women experience during the day, even 5 minutes of meditation is an amazing self care for busy women.
I first heard about grounding when I was in Hawaii and my sister was walking around with no shoes on. An old man came up to us and told us my sister was going to be the happiest person that day because of all the positive ions from the Earth being realized into her body through her feet. At first, I thought he was crazy, but then I found out about a thing called “grounding” and how it can actually improve your health.
Grounding is also called earthing, and it is when you do activities that ground you to the Earth. Some of these activities include walking barefoot, lying on the ground, and swimming in water. There is not a lot of scientific research behind the benefits on grounding, but many people have reported improvements in sleep, less anxiety and less chronic pain.
Grounding is a really simple self-care activity that lets you reconnect with nature and can improve mental and physical health.
7. cold shower
I live in the 2nd coldest state in the U.S so I know all about the benefits of the ‘polar plunge’. Submerging yourself in cold water has been shown to improve circulation, improve immunity, increase energy and decrease anxiety and depression.
You don’t need to jump in an icy lake to get the benefit of cold water submersion. A cold shower will also do the trick! A cold shower will increase your metabolism by increasing your heart rate and adrenaline.
A cold shower may not be the most relaxing self-care idea, but it does have some major health benefits that will leave you feeling amazing after!
8. Jade Roller
Jade rollers have become extremely popular just in the last few years. I can personally attest to how amazing a cold jade roller feels on my face as part of my nightly routine.
A jade roller not only feels amazing, but also has great health benefits. The cold crystal helps drain toxins from your lymphatic system and improves circulation in your skin tissue which helps reduce wrinkles.
9. bubble bath
A bubble bath is one of the most relaxing self-care ideas we can think of. The warm water of the bath will help with any pain and inflammation you may have from a long day. Try using this sweet almond bubble bath to nourish your skin while you lay back and relax!
Favorite Self-Care Ideas
10. read a book
Spend some time with yourself and get lost in a good book! I love cuddling up on the couch with a good book after a long day. Some of my favorite books at the moment are Where the Crawdads Sing and The Four Winds.
11. Visit the plant store/greenhouse
Even if you aren’t a plant person, your local plant store can provide some important health benefits. Plants create a soothing environment and can help relieve stress and improve your mood. Buying house plants is also a major mood booster for myself and my favorite form of retail therapy.
Volunteering is not your typical self-care activity because you are directly caring for yourself, but rather others. I still recommend volunteering as an awesome self-care activity because it is good for your mental health. You feel good about yourself and what you are doing when you take time to help others.
13. put away your phone
We can get so consumed with social media and everything happening online that we don’t realize the subconscious stressor our phones are adding to our everyday life. Try to take at least 1 hour every night to put the phone away and are present in the moment.
14. watch a movie
This last self-care idea is a classic. Turn on your favorite movie or tv show, snuggle up on the couch, and just relax. Comfy pajamas, cozy blankets, and yummy snacks are also great ideas for a self-care movie night!
