Is skin care considered self-care?
Absolutely, skin care is self care!
Self care is about doing things that make you feel good. It’s about taking care of your mental, emotional, and physical needs. Your skin care routine products should not only take care of your skin physically but should also make you feel relaxed and beautiful.
I’ve found that I feel much more calm and ready for bed after completing my skin care routine. It’s been a great form of self care for me because I get to focus on keeping my skin healthy while also feeling amazing after a long day.
Keep it simple (and budget friendly)
It was also really important for me to find a skin care routine that made me feel good about my skin, but also wasn’t a 20 step process with expensive products. Once you add too many steps to your skincare routine, it feels more like a chore that you end up giving up after a week.
It’s important to find a skincare routine that you enjoy, so it doesn’t feel like another thing on your to-do list at the end of a long day. Keep it simple with 1-3 products that work best for your skin.
There are a lot of great self care and skin care products that are budget friendly while also making you feel amazing.
I’ve always had acne prone skin with parts of my face very oil and other parts very dry. I’m always on the hunt for great skin care and self care products that don’t break the bank.
Keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different, and products that work for me not work the best for your skin. It’s all about finding skin care products that work best for you and make you feel amazing.

Gua Sha and Jade Roller for face ($9.95)
Gua sha and jade rollers improve circulation and lymphatic drainage. I like to keep my gua sha and jade roller in the fridge for an extra cooling effect and refreshing feel on my skin. If you’re new to using these, check out this article on how to use jade rollers and gua sha tools.
Tea Tree Oil Foot Soak ($16.97)
Often times we forget about taking care of the skin on our feet. Give your feet a little love with this amazing tea tree oil foot soak. This stuff will make your feet feel amazingly smooth, plus it gets rid of any fungus and bacteria that might be making your feet stink.
Facial Steamer ($19.99)
This is the best facial steamer for under $20! Use this steamer after you wash your face to help open your pores. If you are prone to clogged pores and acne, this is a great product because it helps pull sebum (oil) from your pores. A facial steamer also makes your skin products, like your serums and moisturizer, work better because they can soak into your open pores better!
12 Pack Facial Sheet Masks ($11.99)
I love using facial masks every once in a while to treat my skin a little extra. I recommend only using a facial mask once a week so you don’t over irritate your skin. These masks come in a great variety and leave your skin feeling extra soft and smooth.
I DEW CARE Plush Party Lip Mask
I bought this lip mask not really knowing what to expect, but I’m so happy I did! This lip mask is seriously amazing and makes my lips feel extremely soft. My lips usually get very dry in the winter, but I’ve used this lip mask like a normal lip balm and it has helped keep my lips feeling moisturized all day.
Skin Care Products for Dry Skin Under $20
CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($11.38)
This lotion feels very light weight but moisturizes your skin super well! “CeraVe is a brand created with and recommended by dermatologists”, says medical doctor and aesthetician Dr. Fabusiwa. “The premise behind it is affordable products with ingredients that actually work and have a strong evidence base.” Try it out! There’s a reason everyone loves CeraVe products.
Neutrogena Hyrdo Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($15.99)
This is a great serum to use with a gua sha and to give you an extra boost of moisturizer. It feels very hydrating on your skin and doesn’t leave a sticky residue like other serums sometimes do.
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser ($13.71)
This daily cleanser is great for all skin types-oily, dry, and combination! It removes all the dirt and oil from your skin without overdrying. If you’re looking to try a new face wash, I highly recommend trying out this one!
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream ($16.08)
This is another great CeraVe product that helps hydrate and moisturize your skin. It’s a lot thicker than the CeraVe Daily Lotion, and it’s perfect for dry skin in the winter.
Aquaphor Lip Repair ($15.21 pack of four)
You can never go wrong with this lip repair by Aquaphor. The best product for my dry and cracked lips in the winter!
Products for Oily Skin Under $20
Kiehls Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque ($19.99)
I love this mask because it is great for oily skin and really helps unclog my pores. Your skin will feel so nice and soft after using. This $20 version doesn’t come with a lot of mask, but it’s great if you just want to try it out!
Neutrogena HydroBoost Face Moisturizer ($17.54)
I love how lightweight this moisturizer feels! It doesn’t make my skin feel oily or greasy throughout the day like other moisturizers have. This is a great product to try out if you have oily skin.
Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Facial Sheets ($16.77 pack of three)
I don’t know what I would do without these oil absorbing sheets. I use these multiple times a day (especially in the summer) because my face naturally produces a lot of oil. These work great because they remove the oil from your skin without removing any of your makeup.
Skin Care for Acne Under $20
Curology Bottle (19.99/month)
I started using Curology a few months before my wedding because I was so tired of having acne and I really didn’t want to have bumps all over my face during my big day. Curology far exceeded my expectations and seriously made me finally feel confident in my skin. I know it sounds silly that a skin care product could really change your life, but Curology really has changed my life. I don’t wear makeup to cover up my acne anymore and I finally feel happy and confident in my skin.
Mighty Patch for pimples ($10.40)
These patched work great for the occasional pesky pimple that pops up. It literally sucks the juices out of the pimple (gross I know)… but it works super well!
Differin Gel ($12.88)
I’ve tried Differen Gel for troubled acne spots on my face and it has worked really well. It doesn’t overly dry out your skin like other acne products can. Differen Gel helps fight current acne while also preventing future breakouts.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash ($16.47)
I’ve used this face wash for the last couple years and have loved it. It’s worked really well for my acne prone skin because it has salicylic acid which helps prevent and treat acne. It might dry out your face the first couple weeks of using it while your skin gets used to it.
