I started journaling when I was 10 years-old but I didn’t understand the benefits of journaling until I was in my twenties. I journaled, and still journal, because I love doing it.
Journaling has been a great activity for me to help process my thoughts and emotions. Sometimes I don’t even know how I am feeling or what I am thinking until I start writing it down. Journaling helps you become more mindful of your emotions, so you can better process and make sense of how you are feeling.

Journaling should be used as a tool to help you process your thoughts and feelings. Often times journaling can feel like a lot of work for people, so they quit after a couple entries. To avoid this, journal in short increments at times you are free. You don’t have to journal everyday to feel the benefits of journaling. Start small, you could even start by writing one sentence a day.

One of the reasons I enjoy journaling so much is because I love reading my old journal entries. I like looking back at different times in my life and reading memories and thoughts from the perspective of my younger self. I have memories written down all the way back to the first time I met my husband when we were 12 years old, to a journal entry I wrote on the day of our wedding in 2020.
